I
recently received the book Amazing Lace by Sharon Moon and Cheryl Potter from Cooperative Press to review. I
am not being paid for this review. The book is for sale on Amazon
for $26.95 or $16.95 for the Ravelry download.
I really liked this book and out of the 13 patterns, I hope
to knit up 10 of them at some time. I only wish the photos of the patterns
would show the shapes of the items better. The photos show someone wearing the
items but it is unclear sometimes if it is a shawl or a poncho and whether it
is crescent shaped or triangular. I did go to the Ravelry page which shows some
pictures where people have knit some of the patterns. This helped me see that I
would like to knit some of them.
Throughout the book, there are lots of information on
different lace techniques and the photos of the techniques are wonderful. The
authors show swatches of different stitches in different colors, or different
size needles which is very informative. I think this would be a great book for
lace knitters of different ability levels. It is excellent for a beginner
knitter because there are great tutorials on the different stitches and how
they look. One of the projects would be great for a beginner knitter. There are
also patterns that would challenge an intermediate to advanced lace knitter
too. So, I think this book would appeal to all types of knitters.
I think this book is well worth having on your shelf. Please
check it out the overview and patterns on Ravelry!
If you like the book and want to enter to win a digital copy,
please leave a comment below by April 20 along with your Ravelry name or email address. I
will draw a name on April 21 using a random number generator and the winner
will get a digital copy of the book. Please check it out and let me know what
you think.
