Happy Thanksgiving

Today is Thanksgiving Day in the United States.

There is so much that I am thankful for every day.

I’m thankful for:
  • My family
  • My friends
  • My physical health
  • My financial health
  • Eating healthier
  • Exercising regularly
This year has been an awful pandemic year but there is a silver lining this year.

We have been able to do things around our home that we haven’t taken the time to do. We’ve always put it on the back burner to do when we have time. So, this year, we had the time and we did a lot of things on our list.

I was able to finish probating my parent’s estate and finalizing all the legal stuff.

We bought my parent’s house after they passed away so we were able to go to Florida and quarantine there where the weather was nicer. Now that the probate stuff is complete, we were able to enjoy our time in Florida.

I decided to learn something new and I’m trying to learn how to quilt using English paper piecing.

I was able to use zoom to stay connected with many different groups. In fact, I feel more connected this year to others than I ever have before.

What are you thankful for this year? Please share.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Today is Thanksgiving Day in the US. There will be parades and family gatherings all around the country. It is a great day to gather with family and share what you are thankful for. I’m so lucky to have a life filled with blessings. I try to remember to be thankful for all of my blessings every day and not just this one day of the year. They are so numerous that there isn’t enough paper to write them on. I hope that you have a safe and happy holiday!

The Great Thanksgiving Listen

Story Corps is hosting this wonderful project called The Great Thanksgiving Listen. I first heard about this on Richard Byrne’s Free Technology for Teachers.

“The Great Thanksgiving Listen is a national movement that empowers young people—and people of all ages—to create an oral history of the contemporary United States by recording an interview with an elder using the free StoryCorps App.”

You can sign up as an individual or a class. It was first started for high schoolers to connect with older people but now anyone can participate.

For teachers: “Each fall, StoryCorps provides a Teacher Toolkit with multimedia resources, lesson plans, and an app guide to support you in bringing this assignment to classrooms, after-school programs, or any context where young people are learning. We hope these multimedia pages and downloadable materials will provide you with an educational framework to support young people as they learn to interview, record, and listen to the stories of their elders.”

Now is the time to look at this project and start planning!

Have you ever participated in this project? Please share.
