The Sweetest Thing

42 years ago we got married. On our honeymoon in Helen, Georgia, the band played the song, The Sweetest Thing. I knew that is exactly how I felt about you. I still feel the same way about you. I know I’m the luckiest person in the world because you are in it! I look forward to many more wonderful years with you!

When I see you in the morning

With that old sleep still in your eyes

I remember all the laughter

And the tears we shared last night

And as we lie here

Just two shadows

In the light before the dawn

The sweetest thing

I've ever known

Is lovin' you

And I have never been afraid of losin'

And I have never wanted love to be a chain

I only know that when I'm with you

You're my sunshine, you're my rain

The sweetest thing

I've ever known

Is lovin' you

Now you and I

We're not children

We have both been loved before

We have given and we have taken

Many rides on troubled shores

But all the heartaches and temptations

Only made me love you more

The sweetest thing

I've ever know

Is lovin' you

And I have never been afraid of losin'

And I have never wanted love to be a chain

I only know that when I'm with you

You're my sunshine, you're my rain

The sweetest thing

I've ever known

Is lovin' you

The sweetest thing

I've ever known

Is loving you.

41 Years and Still Going Strong

Today my husband and I celebrate our 41st wedding anniversary. He is the love of my life, my best friend, my soul mate! Every year gets better and better because we enjoy being together. I look forward to sharing many more years of wonderful adventures together.

I always think about the Winnie the Pooh quote to say what I feel:

"If you live to be a hundred, I want to live to be a hundred minus one day, so I never have to live without you.” - AA Milne

Happy Anniversary my love!

40th anniversary

Forty years ago on June 26, 1982, I married the love of my life. He truly is my best friend, my better half, the one that completes me. Life is so much better when I am with him and I can’t imagine life without him in it. It is hard to believe how fast forty years have flown by so I guess the saying is true that “time flies when you are having fun.” I hope to have many more happy years together!

My favorite Winnie the Pooh quote is this:

"If you live to be a hundred, I want to live to be a hundred minus one day so I never have to live without you." -A.A. Milne, 'Winnie The Pooh.'

Fourteen Years Later

I have been writing on this blog for fourteen years. My first post was on September 16, 2007.

Time flies when you are having fun. I’ve been writing posts every Monday through Friday for fourteen years. When I first started this, I told myself I would quit when it stopped being fun. I guess I’m still having fun.

Here is my first post on “Why I’m Doing This.” My reasons are still the same but I throw in some lessons I’ve learned through my travels and sometimes some other personal memories. I still hope that others enjoy reading my posts and get something out of them.

Here are the stats from Google Analytics:
  • Over 2.3 million people have read my blog.
  • I have 261 followers.
  • Over 3730 posts.
  • Over 3500 comments
  • Most people use Chrome.
  • Teaching is the most popular keyword used for search.
  • The top locations that view this site are the US, France, Russia, UK, Germany, Canada, Sweden, Brazil, and the Philippines.
Overall, I think I’m meeting my goal of having meaningful content for my readers.

I want to thank everyone who has visited and supported me over these 14 years.

13th Blogiversary

I started this blog on 9/16/2007 and I missed this year's blogiversary. It is now 13 years old and I would never have thought that I would keep it up this long. I promised myself that I would do this only as long as I enjoy it and I feel that I'm helping others. I guess I still feel this way!

I thought I would share some statistics with you:

I have over 2.21 million page views.

I have over 352,000 comments.

Most people use Chrome to read my blog.

Most people use a Windows operating system.

1.2 million readers live in the United States.

Other readers come from at least 18 other countries.

I want to thank all of you that continue to read my blog. Please feel free to contact me if you have a topic you want me to write about or if you have a question you would like me to answer. If you want to know how I feel about a specific issue, I'd be happy to have that conversation with you.

Happy Anniversary to My Husband

Tomorrow is our 38th wedding anniversary! It doesn’t feel like we have been married that long because, like the saying goes, “time flies when you are having fun!”

We enjoy being together so much and love doing so many different things that it is hard to ever get bored. We try to support each other’s interests even if we don’t have an interest in it.

A good marriage involves a lot of giving and taking and if both of us can give more than take, we are both happy.

A good marriage involves total trust. I never want to abuse the trust you have in me and I know you feel the same way.

I can’t imagine life without you! I love you!

Happy Anniversary to My Husband

Today we celebrate our 36th wedding anniversary! I truly understand the saying “How time flies when you are having fun!” It is hard to believe that we have been together that long because it feels just like yesterday that we were married! Every year gets better and better and I’m so thankful that you are in my life! I love you!

Happy 9th Blogiversary!

I started this blog on 9/16/2007 and never thought I would still be doing it nine years later.  Tomorrow I will begin my tenth year and I still love doing it.

I’ve had 2473 posts and over a million visitors to my site. I feel happy with the way I’ve been doing this and still like the format that I follow. I post Monday through Friday every week and share helpful links on most Fridays.

My husband has encouraged me to add advertising to my site but I refuse to do that because I don’t want people to think I’m just doing this for money. I don’t want to be a billboard for advertisers. When I started, my purpose was to share my ideas and experiences with new and struggling teachers, not to make a profit.

I’ve even had parents read my blog and either encourage me to continue or to ask questions and advice.

If you are still reading this and have been for a while, I want to humbly thank you for reading my words. Knowing you are out there continues to motivate me to keep on writing!
