In Back-of-the-Book Blurb
Friday # 6 from Sioux's Page,
Sioux offers this
challenge.
She
posts a picture and you need to imagine it as a graphic for a book. You choose
the genre and book title, and then write a blurb that might appear on the back
of the book.
·
The blurb should be 150
words or less (not including the title).
·
The genre is wide-open.
·
Each blogger should
include their blurb on their own blog, and link back to this post.
·
Have fun with it. Go to
the other posts and comment on the other blurbs.
·
You can do fancy techy
things with the photo.
(Join in
if you dare...! It sounds like fun! I think this would be a lot of fun to do
with students especially since they would be expected to write 150 words or
less!)
The Treasure Hunt
The
treasure was answer to all of Ethan’s dreams. He knew this because his father,
James, told him this on his death bed. His grandfather, Benjamin had told James
this when he was dying. Each son had hoped to find the treasure but if they
didn’t, they had to pass the mission on to their eldest son. But no one ever
told them what treasure they were looking for or how to find it. James made
Ethan promise to keep trying and to never give up and he did. Ethan was told to
go to the garden and look for the clues. He finally found this at the
coordinates he was given. What did it mean? Where was it telling him to go
next? Was it pointing him in a certain direction? What had he gotten himself
into? (138 words)

You blurb sounds like there's a mystery involved too! Love it. It is amazing all the different takes from one picture. As a teacher, I would think this would be a fun thing to do with students!
Pat--I agree with Lynn. I was wondering what would happen in your book. Enticing the reader--that's the hard part, and you made it look easy.
