Stitching in the Stacks – Book Review and Giveaway

Recently Cooperative Press sent me Stitching in the Stacks to review and this book is a knitting book that was librarian inspired. (I am not being paid to review this book.) The print plus PDF version is $29.95 and the PDF version is $16.95.

I loved a lot of patterns that were given in this book! There seemed to be a great variety of patterns for all level of knitters. There are 29 patterns and organized in sections such as Archives, Fiction, Reference, Stacks and Staff Room.  You can see pictures of all the patterns here. There are shawls, sweaters, vests, mitts, skirts, hats, book covers, bookmarks, eyeglass holder, and even a cute toy.  I know that I plan to knit at least 22 of these items.

I really like how the book is arranged. At the beginning in the Table of Contents are pictures of all of the items featured in the book. In the digital version, you can click on the picture, which brings you to the pattern. At the bottom of the pattern page is a little book icon labeled TOC and if you click on that, it brings you back to the picture page. This really makes it easy to navigate through the book.

I think this would a great book to have in the school library! Many schools now are organizing knitting groups and more and more young people are becoming knitters. This book has a great variety of items and they are perfect for different levels of knitters. They are also cute enough to make knitting fun and not boring!

If you like the book and want to enter to win a digital copy, please leave a comment below and tell me which project in the book is your favorite by May 19 and give your Ravelry name in the comment. I will use a random number generator and the winner will get a digital copy of the book. Please check it out and let me know what you think!

I love the Dewey Decimal Hat. I loved going through the cards searching for books when I was a kid.

Very intriguing! Looks like a fun read I didn't want to look at all of the patterns because a huge part of the joy of a new book is looking at the designs for the first time, but the "every book has its reader" fingerless gloves are adorable. HelenGuate on Ravelry

The Open Book Cardigan, the hounds tooth looking sweater, and the Ex Libris phone cover for sure. Really would love to start with the first project and work my way through the book! My Ravelry.com name is Dizzysheep.

Love the clever names of things. Just browsing the fingerless mitts is fun. Need several pairs of those for my office. --StarMeadow
