In Happy 2010 from Creating a Path for Learning in the 21st Century , Bill asks
“What “word” will you live in 2010?”
It has taken me two weeks to decide what my word would be. I wanted it to be something that I can focus on and have it help guide my actions each day. I wanted it to be a word that I can stick on my mirror and see every day. I wanted a word that would mean something to me and then, it finally hit me. I found it! I found the word that I want to live in 2010.
Drum roll please…my word is…
Cherish.
According to the Merriam-Webster Online, cherish means “to hold dear : feel or show affection for”
This year I want to hold many things dear because if I know that they are dear, I want to appreciate them more. I don’t ignore or hide things that I cherish. I want to share with others the things that I cherish because they are important to me.
Here are some of the things I cherish and hope to focus on them this year. They are not in any particular importance but rather in the order as they pop into my mind.
· Cherish my family because I don’t know how long I will be able to let them know how much I cherish them.
· Cherish my friends because good friends are hard to find.
· Cherish the new things that I learn each day.
· Cherish the opportunities that present themselves to connect with others.
· Cherish the opportunities to share my knowledge and experience about education.
· Cherish the wonderful serendipitous events that happen to me because they happen often in my life and I don’t always take the time to appreciate them.
So what word will you live in 2010?

very good choice and post!!! I like the word cherish! Thank you for sharing. I posted about my word-Believe and about my theme scripture on my blog.
The word cherish is a good choice as it covers so much of what we should be feeling every minute of everyday. When I read your post and then tried to come up with a word for 2010 I kept coming back to motivation, and all forms of the word, motivation to work out, loose weight, try knew things...and motivate, my students, my son, my husband. So, that's it, my word is motivation!
Great choice. After reading this I put some thought into it and I'd have to say my word for 2010 would be devote: "To give or apply (one's time, attention, or self) entirely to a particular activity, pursuit, cause, or person."
- to learn something new each day.
- to teach something new to someone each day.
- more time to the people I love.
- more time to my music and writing.
Great choice!I believe that positive affirmations transform our lives. My word for this year is "Gratitude". I am thankful for what I have and who I am.
@Sandy That is a great word too!
@Ann Motivation may be my word for next year! Thanks for the suggestion.
@Ryan that is a great word!
@maze Gratitude is a great word. I think I don't tell people enough how much I am thankful for.
Loved the post! My word would be "celebrate." I have so much to be joyful for, and everyday that I am able to teach and write is a day to celebrate!
