As a teacher, I feel we have to keep up to date concerning research in our field and current issues in the education system. Has a hotel turned down your reservation because it’s full? Have you been bumped off a flight that you paid for? These are all symptoms of overbooking, a practice where businesses sell or book more than their capacity. So why do they do it? Creative Storm 2018 Video Contest – “Want to win fabulous prizes? Want to help young people around the world gain new insights to what they learn in school? Want to help with the very honorable effort to end ignorance, one video at a time? NextVista.orgwants you!
How does the contest work? Put a little creativity into a video teaching any concept one might encounter in elementary, middle, or high school, and keep it to 90 seconds or less. It can be about sculpture, negative numbers, supply and demand, alternative energy, adverbs, or anything else for which you have a clever insight. Read the full rules, and if you click in the right place, you can get some hints. This is really three contests: one for students, one for teachers, and one for collaborations between the two (as when students plan and/or act and the teacher edits). These get judged separately, and we'll be passing out prizes to the finalists and winners of each. Deadline: Each video and its entry form(s) must be submitted by 11:59p on Friday, December 14, 2018. Mind Over Media – “This web platform provides an opportunity to explore the subject of contemporary propaganda by hosting thousands of examples of 21st century propaganda from around the world. Users can upload, examine and discuss examples of propaganda from our own daily lives. By examining propaganda, rating its potential impact, and commenting on it, people share their interpretations with others. Lesson plans deepen the learning by offering additional information, structuring discussion activities, and enabling students to demonstrate their learning through multimedia production experiences.” (L:T;SA:SS)
