My Ideal Week

In My Top Time Management Tips: Plan Your Ideal Week from Cool Cat Teacher Blog, Victoria A Davis, (Cool Cat Teacher) asks,

"What would you do with your time if you could plan your ideal week?"

My ideal week would include the following activities:

  • Working on my laptop.
  • Exercising.
  • Writing articles for my blog.
  • Watching podcasts.
  • Hiking with friends.
  • Working on my spinning wheel.
  • Working outside in my yard.
  • Run errands when the stores and roads aren’t crowded.
  • Knitting with a group of friends.
  • Reading.
  • Visiting with friends.

After looking at this list, I realize that I’m pretty lucky and do most of the things every week. I guess my ideal week happens pretty often in my life. There really isn’t anything that I want to do that I’m not able to do. I started just writing down a list of things and then taking them off when I realized that they would not really be included in my “ideal week.”

This would be a fun activity to do with students. They might realize that they are doing a lot of things that they want to do already. They also may realize that they need to change their habits to do other things that they want to do. Some of the students may have overloaded their schedule and need to scale back some activities in order to do other activities. Others may need to make an effort to do the things they want to do and may not know how to go about doing this.

Some students may not know where to start and I would suggest that they write down all the things that they actually do during the week. Then add things they wish they had time to do and hope someday to do. Then I would have them take off the things they wouldn’t want in to do in an ideal week. This would make a great discussion also for the class to see if they have things in common.

What activities would be in your ideal week? Please share.

Oh, this is such a great exercise! I think I'll do this with my ESL student this week (tutoring). It's interesting because it lets students use their imaginations and be creative.

Lol, well if we're talking about 'IDEAL' weeks then mine would be spent on a beach drinking margaritas :p But if not, doing my favorite activities at home, writing, teaching, relaxing, spending time with my fiance and my friends.
