On Saturday, we went to Charpex in Charlotte, NC. We left at 7 am and got there around 9 am. It was drizzling along the way, but luckily we never hit any heavy rain. Don got some things off the free table. Since we were early, we walked down to Burger King and had breakfast (which was not very good). By the time we returned, the show was open, and I walked around to scout out postcards for Don and look at the exhibits. Then I settled down to knit. Around 11, there was an opening ceremony in another room, so I went to it. They talked about how Postcrossing may be a way to entice young people to get interested in postcards and stamps. At 1 pm, there was a Postcrossing meetup, and I went to it. I ended up signing up for Postcrossing and got my first address. Then we spent about 2 hours signing everyone’s postcards. Next year, I will bring a stamp! After that, we left and got home about 5 pm.
Tuesday, we mowed the lawn in the morning, and then we went out to dinner with our 55+ group from the senior center. We met at Break at the Lake in Greenwood. The food was tasty, and both of our dinners (Crab cakes, 1 side, plus water) totaled about $50. It was fun to chat with our friends.
On Wednesday, Southern Lawn and Landscapes came to remove a tree in our backyard. They showed up at 7:30 and ended by 3:30. On Thursday, they returned to fill in the holes the tree made when it fell. They also messed up our driveway, which the owner, Max, said would be repaired. On Friday, they fixed the driveway, and I ended up paying $1600 ($1500 for the tree plus $100 for the dirt).
On Thursday morning, we met our friend Debbie for a hike at Conestee Nature Preserve. We were able to hike 2 miles, but we had to leave early when Max called and said the crew would be there to fill in the holes. Debbie went home and came back with her weed eater and helped us clear the back fence area. We ended up going to Home Depot and buying a battery-powered weed eater.

We also went to Ruth’s Chris Steak House for dinner on Thursday night. We got a free steak dinner for listening to a presentation on Wills, Trusts, and Estates. We didn’t learn anything new, but I got a free filet out of the deal, which I enjoyed. Don had a couple of bites of his, and I ate the rest of his steak too.
Friday, I convinced Don to let his back rest up from the hard yard work we did on Thursday. I decided to make another project bag and it came out so much better than my first one!
Saturday was also another rest day. I did some baking, cooking, knitting, and meeting with knitting friends on Zoom.
